Young Detective
a personal character design and model
To learn the full body human anatomy and human modeling, in Figure Modeling course that I took in fall of 2018, I designed and modeled a detective character. I was inspired by my little sister, who is always curious and love to solve problems. The concept art was done in Photoshop. I wanted the character to look witty and intelligent, at the same time still retain her innocent and youthful persona.
The modeling was done in Maya. I approached the character modeling using the per-polygon method in which I used simple mesh manipulating tools such as extrude, scale, and move to create the character and her clothing. I brought her into ZBrush and used poly-paint tool to create her skin tone and the texture on her clothing. I then brought her back into Maya for rigging and used Arnold to light and render.
